A Bit More About Me
I believe that my core values of simplicity, non-judgement, honesty, integrity, compassion, love, courage, service, leadership, adventure, joy, and a living hope, guide my decisions through every path my life will take me on. Living a life rooted in these values allows me to face any challenge and maintain a right standing. There are many ways of life that bring us into ruin, but I believe that following after righteousness leads to an abundant and wholesome life.

I find social justice issues and issues that involve the life of the church most important. Social justice issues are broad, and they encompass anything that harms someone societally. There are issues among women, children, race, wage, housing, and basically anything that causes injustice in our society. The life of the church is important to me because it is where people find resilience, love, compassion, justice, and mercy. These two components merge with our humanity and are where hope is found.

Interdisciplinary Skills

Empathy
I am curious and have a love for learning from other perspectives. I had to think abstractly about different concepts and communicate them well. I self-reflected often to gain more insight. I also had to be persistent and not give up through the challenges. I had to be brave with intellectual courage, but also use empathy and humility to understand other viewpoints.

Critical Thinking
A success with regard to critical thinking was when I had to create a volunteering handbook for my volunteering management class. I decided to use my church as the organization, and I had to think critically about the current organization through gathering information. Then I had to compare different viewpoints and apply them to the theoretical framework to communicate how to create a functional volunteering system. I also had to use a lot of abstract thinking and self-reflection throughout the process in order to challenge existing concepts that can be toxic to the organization’s vitality.

Love of Learning
I successfully integrated a Ukraine church mission and my friend’s construction business, to a grant writing project. I had to find a real US grant to write for, and I wanted to make the project as close to reality as possible. I was able to use the missions’ regions of Ukraine as my focus area, and my friend’s construction business as the support team to write the grant against. I had to be persistent, gather a lot of information, and have an entrepreneurial mindset. I felt very accomplished when I finished because it felt real, almost like it would have worked if I continued to persist with it.

Humility
Many of the students throughout the program were majoring in public affairs, and I would see them on and off in different classes. I had to put aside my attitude and learn to listen, ask questions, and discover what made the other students tick. I used it as an opportunity to gain perspective on the discipline by understanding the perspectives of those who were fully dedicated to it.
Skills That Transfer
Throughout my life, I have acquired many valuable skills that transfer anywhere I go. I have learned to apply these skills to whatever I put my mind to. I learned this throughout my Interdisciplinary education; I learned to synthesize disciplines and to creatively think of solutions for complex problem solving.
My greatest skills are found in leadership. It requires emotional intelligence, communication, problem solving, conflict resolution, and project management skills. It's about creating teams through focusing on relationships, which transfers across any discipline. I've humbly learned that on our own, we can accomplish nothing. We only adapt and overcome problems together and are able to become greater assets for success by learning from one another.
